The AC Schnitzer aerodynamic components pick up the lines of the respective base vehicle, subtly reinforce them and give the body exciting new contours. At the same time, however, they also have a real effect: they increase the downforce on the front and/or rear axle and thus provide additional grip. Only high-quality composite materials are used in the production of our AC Schnitzer aerodynamic components. Because only these materials meet our high quality standards.

Material

Polyurethan (kurz PUR oder in der Alltagssprache auch PU genannt)
Due to its excellent mechanical properties, the use of PUR (polyurethane) is particularly suitable in areas that require high wear resistance: e.g. in high-quality automobile construction. PUR is easy to shape, very dimensionally stable and – compared to other plastics – very light. It can be painted particularly well (even multiple times if necessary). Polyurethane is created by a chemical reaction that takes place immediately before the material is processed. Polyol and isocyanate react to form polyurethane in a mixing head. PUR gets its positive product properties from processing using the “R-RIM technology” (Reinforced-Reaction Injection Molding), among other things. With this technology, the highly reactive PUR components are filled with short fibers, mixed under high pressure and processed using reaction injection molding. The reaction mixture from the mixing head and sprue is usually filled into a closed aluminum or epoxy resin mold, where it hardens to form a molded part. The R-RIM technology creates particularly stable parts, high tear and impact strength, and all of this with a low weight. The aerodynamic components produced are deburred, ground and – as a special service from AC Schnitzer and to simplify handling for the customer – primed or finally painted.

PUR, ASA oder Carbon: Bei AC Schnitzer stammen alle Designs von einem echten italienischen Künstler: Michele Viandante; er ist seit vielen Jahren Chefdesigner bei AC Schnitzer. Natürlich sind seine Entwürfe nicht nur schön, sie müssen sich auch bewähren: Viele Teile werden zum Beispiel im Windkanal auf ihre Funktionstüchtigkeit getestet.
