BMW flat bottom steering wheel – how to assemble at home

BMW introduced the new G82 M4, and with that new flat bottom steering wheels. This is the first time, BMW uses these types of wheels in their lineup. BMW made these steering wheels standard in all their new models. They can be optionally requested from factory to be fitted to any new 2-, 3- and 4 series models. Customers are able to choose between leather or alcantara steering wheels with red striping at the top.

It seems like BMW has finally listened to their fans, who complained about the M Performance steering wheels not supporting the steering wheel heating or the driving assistant professional option. After all, losing familiar features when installing a new steering wheel can easily disappoint customers who rely on them.

However BMW is smart, they not only released these steering wheels in 2 materials: alcantara and leather. They also introduced new products that support the aforementioned features. In this video we assembled a leather steering wheel for a customer. He opted for the leather flat bottom steering wheel. This wheel doesn’t support steering wheel heating or driving assistant professional. He also wanted the carbon fiber trim and brand new parts. This way he could easily swap his old steering wheel to this new one.
