Material:

• The exterior mirror cap is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP, carbon) and is sealed with clear varnish.

The material is UV, temperature and water resistant.
Material information: The carbon frames are made by hand. The cutting and draping of the fabric layers, the hardening process of the plastic matrix and the milling of the raw parts take several hours. The subsequent painting represents a particular challenge. In order to reinforce the unmistakable depth effect of the carbon fabric, the components are painted several times. Every single layer of lacquer has to be dried and then sanded. After the last layer of lacquer has been applied, the carbon part is polished to a high gloss (with the exception of the open-pored carbon versions). The carbon components are qualified according to the current BMW standard. This is the only way to ensure that the high requirements, e.g. with regard to aging and temperature resistance, are met without cracking or paint peeling off the substrate and yellowing of the matrix is ​​avoided. This high degree of manual work and qualification effort is responsible for the price.
